The spectacular Abbey at La Chaise Dieu goes virtual and from the walkways high above the town, presents a panoramic view out over some 55 hectares of Auvergne countrryside, villages, hamlets, forests, rivers and lakes.

Pictures of the vaulted ceiling and the magnificent organ, can be seen in the image gallery.

Hi all,
Sorry for the outage of the services on lcofrance.org.
After consultation with the technical support at our hosting, they told us that the server had started a file system check (fsck) on the raid array which took many hours to complete.
There were also apparently some sort of network problem, which they did not tell me the details.
Anyway, we are now operational again so see you on the OpenSim,

  Linuxcoaching Org site back online

The LCO-France education and training site Linuxcoaching.org has re-opened with an extensively revised verion. Whilst retaining the existing presentation and format, many new features have been added.

The Centre provides a range of workshops which cover many areas of the GNU/Linux operating system, based on the principles of free/OpenSource software. Workshops are conducted in the english language.

A project to recreate the 15th Century Abbey at the centre of the town of La Chaise Dieu is underway at Le Bourg.

When completed, visitors will be able to visit the Abbey, wander through its vast interior and marvel at the immensity and grandeur of this spectacular building.

As Le Bourg and more than 50 hectares of the beautiful countryside, towns, villages and hamlets of Auvergne nears completion, we connect our "stand-alone server to the OS Grid and other leading OpenSimulator Grids throughout Europe and around the world. Here you see one of the creators, cautiously preparing to use the Hypergate to cross to another grid.

Already starting to arrive to see what the team has created, are people who are keen to bring their own knowledge and creative skills to the regions. First comments "Wow, you have done a great job", "It feels stable and the sim crossings are pretty smooth.", and "You have done a lot of work here, it looks fantastic and has a great ambiance." are both rewarding and reassuring.
